Terms and Conditions

1. Who we are

Moleküli is a private medical genetics consultation service run by Dr Helena Magrath, MSc, PhD, a licensed clinical geneticist based in Austria.

Moleküli provides online genetic counselling, clinical assessment, second opinions, and support in relation to genetic testing and results.

2. Nature of the service

Moleküli offers private medical consultations. It is neither an emergency service nor a hospital, nor is it a substitute for urgent in-person medical care.

The service is designed to help patients and families understand genetic questions, results, testing options, and possible next steps. This may include explanation, interpretation, written summaries, and where appropriate, organisation of testing through an external laboratory.

3. Who these consultations are for

Moleküli consultations are intended for:
– Individuals and families who have questions about a possible genetic condition
– People who have already had genetic testing and need help understanding the results
– People considering genetic testing and wanting to understand options and implications.

Many cases of complex paediatric syndromes and adult-onset conditions (such as Huntington’s disease), can be assessed and discussed at Moleküli. This includes risk evaluation, test strategies and interpretation. However, for some situations, especially those requiring physical examination, long-term follow-up or local psychological support, I may recommend additional in-person care at a local medical centre.

Questions relating to prenatal care, such as invasive prenatal diagnosis or ultrasound findings, always require local medical care. While I can provide counselling support, procedures and pregnancy management must be carried out within your local health system.

4. Booking appointments

Appointments can be booked either online or individually.

By booking an appointment, you confirm that:
• the information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge;
• you are booking for yourself or have the necessary authority to book on behalf of a child or another person.
You also confirm that you have read these Terms & Conditions and the Privacy Policy.

If you are located outside Austria or the EU, please contact Moleküli before booking to confirm the suitability of the consultation.

5. Cancellations and rescheduling

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment:
– More than 24 hours before the appointment: No cancellation fee.
– Less than 24 hours before the appointment: the full consultation fee may be charged.
– Non-attendance/missed appointment: the full consultation fee may be charged.

Where possible, Moleküli will always try to handle changes reasonably and flexibly.

If Dr Magrath has to cancel an appointment (e.g. due to illness or technical problems), any fees already paid for the missed consultation will be fully refunded or the appointment will be rescheduled.

6. Genetic testing and laboratories

Where genetic testing is organised through Moleküli, this is usually carried out by an external accredited laboratory (currently Blueprint Genetics, Finland).

Moleküli helps assess whether testing is appropriate, select the test, organise the process, and explain the results. However, the laboratory itself is responsible for the technical performance of the test and the generation of the report.

Turnaround times are approximate and depend on the laboratory. Moleküli cannot guarantee exact reporting times.

7. Follow-up after Moleküli testing

If the testing is organised through Moleküli, the results will usually be discussed at a follow-up appointment. This consultation focuses on explaining:
– what the gene does;
– what has changed;
– what the result may mean for everyday life and for other family members.

The follow-up appointment is billed separately at the reduced fee listed above and is arranged once the results are available.

8. Second opinions

Second-opinion consultations are intended for patients or families who already have a genetic report or diagnosis and would like help understanding it.

A second opinion does not automatically replace ongoing care with your existing doctors. Moleküli may provide interpretation, explanation, and suggestions for questions or next steps, but cannot guarantee that another doctor or institution will adopt those recommendations.

9. Online consultations and technical requirements

Consultations are conducted online via a secure video platform hosted in the EU.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have:
– a suitable device;
– a stable internet connection;
– a private setting appropriate for a medical consultation.

While Moleküli is not responsible for interruptions caused by local technical problems on the patient’s side, reasonable efforts will be made to continue or rearrange the consultation where appropriate.

10. Medical information and questionnaire

Before or after booking, you may be asked to provide a short medical or family-history questionnaire and/or to send previous reports.

Please provide information as accurately and completely as possible. The quality of the consultation depends in part on the quality of the information available.

11. No emergency service

Moleküli is not an emergency service.

If you have urgent symptoms, acute deterioration, suicidal thoughts, a medical emergency, or a situation requiring immediate in-person care, please contact your local emergency services or treating doctors directly.

12. Limits of the service

Although genetic counselling and testing can answer many questions, they cannot answer all of them.

Moleküli cannot guarantee:
– that a genetic cause will be found;
– that testing will always be appropriate;
– that the results will always be definitive;
– that any particular treatment option will follow from the consultation.

Both medicine and genetics involve uncertainty, and some findings may remain inconclusive.

13. Privacy and data protection

Personal and medical data are processed in accordance with the Privacy Policy.

By booking and using the service, you acknowledge that your personal and medical information must be processed in order to provide the consultation and, where applicable, arrange laboratory testing.

14. Intellectual property

All drawings, illustrations, cartoons, written texts, and visual materials on the Moleküli website are the intellectual property of Moleküli / Dr Helena Magrath unless otherwise stated.

They may not be copied, reused, modified, or distributed without prior written permission.

15. Governing law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by Austrian law, unless mandatory law in another jurisdiction requires otherwise.

16. Changes

Moleküli may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The version published on the website is the current version.
